Balloon Fiesta Convergence

October 1 - October 11

Balloon Fiesta Convergence 1
Balloon Fiesta Convergence 2

Albuquerque, NM
Balloon Fiesta (South RV Lot)
Oct 1-6 (Session 1)
Oct 6-11 (Session 2)-Sold Out

We are excited to take TWO lucky groups of Xscapers to the 2021 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta! If you haven’t been before, it is a must-see event for any RVer and it holds a special place in our hearts since it’s where the very first Convergence took place 6 years ago! There is nothing quite as beautiful as waking up in the morning and seeing hundreds of hot air balloons fly above your RV. Or get up and take the walk to the launch field surrounded by balloons as they begin their ascent.   There is usually the opportunity to help crew for the balloon pilots and many Xscapers have gotten a ride in the past as a thank you for helping out.

In an effort to include as many Xscapers as possible in this very popular event we have divided the 10 day Balloon Fiesta into two groups- Session One and Session Two.  If there is space available, we will open it up to staying for the entire event. For now we are limiting it to one session per Xscaper or Family.

Is an Xscapers Convergence Right for Me?

Xscapers was formed to bring Escapees RV Club back to its original roots of supporting RVers who are working from the road. At Convergences, you will find a community of active and free-spirited individuals with a passion for travel and adventure.

About 80% of Xscapers have full-time jobs they do remotely or seasonally.  This means we typically don’t hold activities during work hours (with the exception of Annual Bash). Starting later in the day also means later nights. We have found that this can be a factor in deciding what event program people attend.

We try to give the most fun and entertainment value at an affordable price. One way we do that is by boondocking as much as possible. Our events are also a great way for newbie boondockers to learn from experienced ones. We try to divide our camping areas into those who have solar and those who want to run generators when possible.

Xscapers is an inclusive community, connected through the bond of RVing. This means we welcome people from all walks of life, no matter race, sexual orientation, political/religious views, lifestyle or RV type. Discrimination of any type will not be tolerated.

Frequently asked questions

The Escapees RV Club has updated their Covid 19 policies and I want to share them with you.

COVID-19 precautions

Because the safety of our members and staff is our number one priority, proof of either full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test will be required to attend this event.

Escapees recommends that members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before attending any club event. (“Fully vaccinated” means that at least two weeks have passed since receiving the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson or Astra-Zeneca vaccines). Participants who are not fully vaccinated must obtain a COVID-19 test not more than 72 hours (three days) before entering this event.

  •
    • At event check-in, you will be asked to present either a valid CDC vaccination card showing that you are fully vaccinated OR the written results of a negative COVID-19 test performed within the past 72 hours.
    • If you don’t have a test, have lost your vaccination card, or are outside of the 72-hour window, locations of the nearest testing facilities will be provided to you. You will be required to self-isolate until a negative test can be provided.
    • Participants who test positive are not allowed to remain on site, and will receive a full refund of their registration fee.
Situations in which you may not attend this event

You may not attend this event if any of the following are true for you or anyone in your party, unless you have met CDC criteria for discontinuing self-isolation:

  •
    • Within 14 days before attending the event you have tested positive, or been exposed to someone who has tested positive, for COVID-19, or
    • Within 48 hours before attending the event, you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., a fever of 100 or higher, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking muscle pain/achiness, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, nasal congestion, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, or any other symptoms associated with COVID-19 identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), whether or not you are vaccinated, unless you have obtained a negative COVID-19 test since the onset of your symptoms and within 72 hours before entering this event.
FAQs about the vaccine/testing requirement

What type of COVID-19 testing results will be accepted?

While PCR tests are preferred because they are the most accurate, antigen tests (also referred to as rapid tests) will be accepted.

Do unvaccinated kids need to have a COVID-19 test to attend?

Yes, children who are not fully vaccinated will need a negative COVID-19 test result to attend.

Where can I get tested?

If you are not fully vaccinated, you can get tested at any facility that offers COVID-19 testing. The websites of most state or county public health departments can help you find testing locations. Many retail pharmacies also offer testing. Your event hosts will have a list of testing locations in the area of the event.

What if I test positive for COVID-19?

If you test positive for COVID-19 before the event, you are unfortunately no longer eligible to attend. To receive a full refund of your registration fee, email a copy of your positive test result to us at registration@escapees.com.

If you test positive for COVID-19 during the event, you may not remain on-site at the event.

What if I’ve had COVID-19 within the 14 days before the event?

If you’ve had COVID-19 within 14 days before attending the event (meaning you are still within the 14-day isolation window), you are unfortunately not eligible to attend. To receive a full refund of your registration fee, email a dated copy of your positive test result to us at registration@escapees.com.

What if I’m vaccinated, but I’ve lost my CDC vaccine card?

If you’ve lost your CDC vaccine card, you will need to obtain a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before arriving at the event.

Masks recommended indoors

In accordance with current guidance from the CDC, Escapees strongly recommends that all attendees, vaccinated or not, wear a mask when participating in activities or socializing with other participants indoors. Attendees are also expected to comply with all masking requirements issued by any governmental entity or private business.

Other precautions

The COVID-19 health and safety precautions that will be in effect during the HOP event will depend on the state of the pandemic, local and state health regulations, and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and other medical professionals at the time. These precautions may include measures such as requiring wearing of masks in certain situations, requiring social distancing, avoiding indoor group activities, limiting carpooling, and/or limiting activities that include sharing of food. In addition to the above, you may be required to agree in writing that you will help provide a safe environment for everyone by complying with our health and safety rules, and to release Escapees from liability should you become ill during or after the event.

Please also be aware that the availability and content of some planned activities may change depending on local and state health regulations and the business’ own COVID-19 mitigation policies.registrationregistratioo

There are porta-potties in the camping area, there are no showers.  This is a dry camping event.

We welcome your furry friends!  If they are outside your rig, they must be leashed at all times. Please pick up after your pets.

The Balloon Fiesta field plays host to a fireworks show that is visible from our camping area.  There is some noise from the fireworks. But not as much as if you were on the Balloon field where they are launched from  There are no fireworks or open fires in the camping area

We will have on-site trash dumpsters.  Please break down all trash to make it as small as possible.

Please do not plan on arriving any earlier than the time listed in the pre-event email.

If you would like to park next to someone, please arrive at the same time.  We will try our best to park you next to those you arrive with.  Remember to make new friends and invite new people to join you.

Please arrive full of water and with empty tanks.  There is water on site to fill jugs and containers but not whole RVs. Please arrive with your water tanks full.   There is a on-site pump out service for an extra fee.

Cell phone signal is strong for all major carriers.  However, there are a lot of people drawing off the same cell towers during the Balloon Fiesta.  It may be necessary to leave the camping area for data-intensive requirements.

No problem! Just email jp@escapees.com with your question, and we’ll do our best to get you an answer.

If you need to make changes or cancel your registration, please email registration@escapees.com

The main reason for you to attend a convergence should be to have fun and meet other like-minded RVers.  Networking and making potential business leads is a natural result of being part of an awesome community.  We don’t want the Xscapers community to be bombarded or feel like they are a commodity. If the main reason you are wanting to attend an Xscapers event is to sell something, market to, or simply to generate content we would ask that you contact us directly for corporate sponsorship.

Covid-19 Precautions

The COVID-19 health and safety precautions that will be in effect during the Convergence will depend on the state of the pandemic, local and state health regulations, regulations from the organizers of the Balloon Fiesta, and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and other medical professionals at the time. It is important to note that we may have extra precautions in place, in addition to those set forth by the Balloon Fiesta. We also strongly recommend that you be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least two weeks before attending this event.

I would like to know if you can stay somewhere that has full hookups and still attend the activity
Also found out that a regular Escapees Maynor be welcome at an Xscapers function.
Found this out about another chapter I wanted to attend a rally

    • Hi Tess!
Typically, no, if a member wants to attend an event, they need to register and be part of the event, including camping with other attendees. However, there is a small exception for the Balloon Fiesta:
If you’d prefer to stay at a nearby RV park and drive to the Fiesta each day, you can still attend two activities that are open to the public- each Sunday at 2:00 PM, The Status Crowes are performing. Anyone is welcome to attend these concerts, just bring your own chair.

All Escapees members are welcome at all Escapees events. The difference between events is how they’re structured, and some members find that they prefer one type of event over another. For example, Convergences are designed for working-aged RVers, meaning that most activities are in the late afternoons and evenings, allowing for those who need to work to do so during business hours without feeling like they’re missing out. This later schedule often means that there are campfires, happy hours, and other social gatherings going until 10:00 PM or later, and that the more engaging activities happen on the weekends when attendees can go for longer outdoor excursions, brewery or distillery tours, or take in other local interests on foot or by bike. Convergences tend to be more budget-conscious, too, with boondocking or dry-camping instead of full hook-ups in RV parks.
Alternatively, our Head-Out-Program (HOPs) tend to be more full service, with catered meals, pre-arranged transportation, full or partial hook-ups, and activities all throughout the day.
Escapees Hangouts fall between the two.
You can learn more about each of these programs, and other events, here: https://www.escapees.com/community/events/
